Description
The key part of this journey has been to focus on Open Education Resources, with the aim of making an open repository of expert global health creative commons resources (videos, interviews, presentations) free to download, giving visitors an opportunity to access quality resources in global health, whilst removing barriers associated with formal registration. We hope to foster diverse and inclusive learner access including healthcare professionals, educators and students around the globe. Simple open access to such resources will be especially helpful to users in low income countries where the School’s expertise continues to have real impact, as evidenced by our Distance Learning qualifications and MOOC series.
With a formal launch of the OER repository expected by September 2018, stage 1 development of our designated OpenStudy Moodle site is underway along with the scaled use of Moodle’s tagging feature which is intended to optimise ease of access. Stage 2 will also explore the use of an in-house developed Moodle chatbot to further support accessibility on the OER platform following successful recent testing within our Distance Learning provision. Our poster will share with others information of our scoping activity, development to date and plans for the development stages to follow, including assessment of impact.
