Learning Design Consultant

Bio I started my career in South Africa in the 80s and 90s, working in adult literacy NGOs in the anti-apartheid movement, and subsequently worked in various adult education and language teaching roles in Spain, the Gulf and India. I entered the Higher Education sector when I came to the UK in 2009, joining the Beyond Distance Research Alliance team at the University of Leicester. While at Leicester I worked as a Research Associate on JISC- and EU-funded projects on open education, and was a Teaching Fellow on the Online MA in TESOL and Applied Linguistics. After our institute was closed down at the end of 2014, I spent two years at Loughborough University as a Learning & Teaching Facilitator. I joined the University of Birmingham as an Instructional Design Consultant for the College of Arts & Law in February 2018. I am currently doing my PhD in Higher Education: Research, Evaluation & Enhancement, online through Lancaster University.
